[Clarifai](https://www.clarifai.com/) was founded in 2013 in New York by Matthew Zeiler, whose convolutional-network research placed in the top five of the ImageNet 2013 challenge. It started as an image and video recognition API and grew into a full-stack AI platform: datasets, labeling and review tasks, workflows, model training and deployment, inference, and later compute orchestration and a reasoning engine for LLM inference. In May 2026 [Nebius](https://nebius.com/) (NASDAQ: NBIS), an AI cloud company headquartered in Amsterdam, took over Clarifai's core engineering and research team, acquired its patent portfolio covering AI inference and compute orchestration, and received a perpetual non-exclusive license to its modern inference and reasoning stack.

- Offices in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., New York, Tallinn (opened in 2019), Canada and India
